After the visit of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant in July, local Basketball fans are in for another treat.
NBA Madness, the league's touring festival, is coming to Hong Kong from Friday to Sunday at Kwun Tong's apm mall. Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City Thunder will make a special appearance to meet fans and conduct Basketball clinics with teenagers.
During his lone season at the University of Texas in 2006-2007, Durant was hailed as one of the greatest players in college Basketball history. He became the first freshman in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's history to win the Adolph Rupp Trophy, Naismith Award and Wooden Award.
He has been nothing short of spectacular since joining Thunder in 2007. He was named NBA rookie of the year in 2007-08 and scored a record 46 points in this year's T-Mobile Rookie Challenge.
The 20-year-old was the league's sixth-leading scorer last season, averaging 25.3 points per game. He posted a career-high 47 points in a game against New Orleans Hornets.
Entering his third year in the league, Durant is hoping to take his game to another level by becoming a well-rounded player and a better playmaker.
NBA Madness is an interactive event with hoop games and exhibitions for fans to enjoy. The highlights will be the exhibition of the Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy, cheerleading routines from the Blazer Dancers of the Portland Trail Blazers, and adidas Basketball Corner, which will showcase memorabilia signed by NBA stars.
Those who want to show off their Basketball skills can take part in challenges such as EA Sports Shooting Stars, Three-Point Shootout, Lenovo Two-Ball Game and Lenovo Free Throw Conga.
