Thabo Sefolosha will be a restricted free agent next summer. The Thunder will not extend the starting shooting guard's contract before the Oct. 31 deadline. The decision, however, does not reflect the organization's fondness for the 25-year-old Sefolosha and instead is more in line with an approach taken by the rest of the league. Only three players from Sefolosha's 2006 draft class, Toronto's Andrea Bargnani and Portland's Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge, have received extensions to their rookie contracts. But the Thunder's coaching staff and front office repeatedly have praised Sefolosha's defensive skills, and the team will have the ability to match any offer he might receive next year. "We had some discussions, but it didn't result in any conclusions," Sefolosha's agent, Guy Zucker told AOL Fanhouse, which first reported the talks. "But (team officials) like (Sefolosha) for the future even though we weren't able to reach any financial agreements." Play Basketball Hot Streak and win prizes!
