Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2009-03-03
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Russell Westbrook, Shooting guard Thabo Sefolosha, Small forward Kyle Weaver, Power forward Nick Collison, Center Nenad Krstic. Bench -- Guard Earl Watson, Guard Chucky Atkins, Center Robert Swift, Forward Jeff Green, Guard Damien Wilkins, Forward Malik Rose.

--G Russell Westbrook was named Rookie of the Month for February. He started all 12 games, averaging 20.6 points, 5.9 assists and 6.1 rebounds. He scored 20 or more points six times and 30 or more points three times, including a career-high 34 points Feb. 1 at Sacramento.

The UCLA product ranked first among rookies in scoring for the month (20.6 ppg), second in assists (5.9 apg), fifth in rebounds (6.1 rpg) and fourth in double-doubles (2). Westbrook is the first Western Conference rookie to win the award multiple times this season. He also won in December.

--F Joe Smith was waived Sunday. Smith was acquired by the Thunder on August 13, 2008 along with guard Desmond Mason in a three-team trade that sent guards Luke Ridnour and Adrian Griffin to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Smith appeared in 36 games for the Thunder this season, averaging 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in 19.2 minutes. Cleveland is believed to be the leading contender to sign Smith, who is playoff eligible.

--F Kevin Durant has heard the estimates that he may be out a month because of a severely sprained right ankle. Others wonder if it's best just to shut him down for the rest of the season. Durant wants no part of such talk.

"I want to get better with my teammates throughout the rest of the year," he said. "It's going to be tough not to be on the floor. I just want to get back to 100 percent. Hopefully that's sooner rather than later."

-- F D.J. White (jaw surgery) had a benign tumor removed Oct. 13. The second phase of the surgery involved mending the jaw with bone graft taken from his hip. He's begun doing light workouts.

--G Desmond Mason (knee surgery) will miss the rest of the season. He is expected to make a full recovery.

--F Kevin Durant (sprained right ankle) was injured in the first quarter of Friday's overtime loss at Dallas. He's missed the last two games and is officially listed as day-to-day, but he's expected to be out at least another week or two.
