Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2009-02-23
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Russell Westbrook, Shooting guard Kyle Weaver, Small forward Kevin Durant, Power forward Jeff Green, Center Nenad Krstic. Bench -- Guard Earl Watson, Guard Chucky Atkins, Center Robert Swift, Center Nick Collison, Guard Damien Wilkins, Forward Malik Rose, Guard Thabo Sefolosha.

--G Thabo Sefolosha is expected to compete with rookie Kyle Weaver at shooting guard, and possibly for a starting spot. Sefolosha played 18 minutes in Saturday's loss at Golden State and didn't score.

"I talked to Thabo and he pretty much knows seven or eight of our sets," coach Scott Brooks said. "He picks things up pretty quick. I just want him to play hard. I know it's going to be a little tough at first not knowing everything, but if they play with great effort, that's all we can ask for."

--F Kevin Durant has scored at least 31 points in four of the last five games, including 32 Saturday night at Golden State. The problem is the Thunder have lost all five.

Despite the scoring output, Durant puts much of the blame on himself. "We have to have a better defensive effort," he said. "It starts with me, and I have to get the guys going."

--F Joe Smith had thought he had seen it all in the NBA. The 14-year veteran, and former No. 1 pick, has been traded six times and played for nine teams. Being dealt to New Orleans as part of the Tyson Chandler trade only to have it rescinded was something new.

"I've never been a part of that type," Smith said.

--F D.J. White (jaw surgery) had a benign tumor removed Oct. 13. The second phase of the surgery involved mending the jaw with a bone graft taken from his hip. He's begun doing light workouts.

--G Desmond Mason (knee surgery) will miss the rest of the season. He is expected to make a full recovery.
