Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2009-02-12

Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2009-02-12
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Russell Westbrook, Shooting guard Kyle Weaver, Small forward Kevin Durant, Power forward Jeff Green, Center Nick Collison. Bench -- Guard Earl Watson, Forward Joe Smith, Guard Chucky Atkins, Center Robert Swift, Forward Chris Wilcox, Guard Damien Wilkins, Center Nenad Krstic.

--G Desmond Mason is an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Oklahoma State product, currently recovering from a knee injury, hopes to make Oklahoma City his last stop.

His health and the direction the team takes next season will factor into any decision made on Mason. His preference is clear.

"I've talked to a few people about that," he said. "This is a special place for me. I've enjoyed my time here. I've enjoyed the things I've had going on in my life here and the opportunities I've had here."

--G Earl Watson is making the most of being a backup. The early-season starter at point guard now comes off the bench behind rookie Russell Westbrook, but Watson is hardly a bench-warmer.

He logged at least 20 minutes in 12 straight games going into Wednesday, racking up at least five assists eight times and nine points six times.

"He's been a pro all year," coach Scott Brooks said. "He comes in and gives us a spark."

--F Chris Wilcox has been regulated to mop-up duty lately, so it comes as little shock that he's open to a trade to get more playing time.

"I definitely wouldn't mind seeing something happen," Wilcox said. "I just hope that it's the right situation if it does happen."

--F D.J. White (jaw surgery) had a benign tumor removed Oct. 13. The second phase of the surgery involved mending the jaw with bone graft taken from his hip. He's begun doing light workouts.

--G Desmond Mason (knee surgery) will miss the rest of the season. He is expected to make a full recovery.
