Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2009-01-17

Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2009-01-17
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Russell Westbrook, Shooting guard Desmond Mason, Small forward Kevin Durant, Power forward Jeff Green, Center Nenad Krstic. Bench -- Guard Earl Watson, Guard Kyle Weaver, Center Chris Wilcox.

PLAYER NOTES:

--C Nenad Krstic has made an immediate impact on the offensive end with his ability to spread the floor. But the 7-footer wants to be productive at both ends.

"I am starting to get more comfortable in the offense, but I still need to get better," said Krstic, who made his first start for the Thunder on Friday. "More and more playing time together will help. I am trying to show that I am not just an offensive player, but I can play some defense too.

"Coach is starting to run more plays for me and get me more involved in the offense. My teammates are starting to look for me more."

--C Chris Wilcox helped fill the void Friday left when starting C Nick Collison was out with a stomach virus. Wilcox had 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

"Wilcox came in and gave us a big lift," Scott Brooks said. "Give credit to the guys, our staff and Wilcox to continue working out. That's why we get there early before practice, that's why we get there early before games.

"Stay ready, stay in shape, be sharp, so when you do get your number called, you will perform. He did a great job. (He) hadn't played in a few games, came in and played well."

--F Kevin Durant was instrumental in limiting Detroit's Allen Iverson to just 14 points (and just 14 shots) in Friday's victory over the Pistons. Durant, by the way, scored a game-high 32 points.

"Allen is a great player," the 6-foot-9 Durant said. "I just tried to use my length to make it hard for him to get his shot off."

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F D.J. White (jaw surgery) had a benign tumor removed Oct. 13. The second phase of the surgery involved mending the jaw with bone graft taken from his hip. Recovery time is four-to-six months. He's begun doing light workouts.

--F Joe Smith (sore knee) was inactive Friday against Detroit and is listed as day-to-day.

--C Nick Collison (stomach virus) was inactive Friday against Detroit.
