Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2009-01-06

Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2009-01-06
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Russell Westbrook, Shooting guard Desmond Mason, Small forward Kevin Durant, Power forward Jeff Green, Center Robert Swift. Bench -- Guard Earl Watson, Center Nick Collison, Guard Kyle Weaver, Center Mo Sene, Center Johan Petro, Center Chris Wilcox, Guard Damien Wilkins.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Russell Westbrook was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for December. Westbrook averaged 15.5 points, 5.1 assists and 9.9 rebounds in 15 games last month.

Westbrook ranked third among rookies in scoring, second in assists and sixth in rebounding. His 1.33 steals per game were second only to the 1.77 of Miami rookie Mario Chalmers.

Westbrook was the lone rookie, and one of only seven players in the league, to post averages of at least 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists for December. Westbrook recorded two 30-point games and a five-steal game for the Thunder during the month.

--C Chris Wilcox came off the bench in the win over Golden State, but his stats were worthy of a starting gig. The reserve scored 23 on 9-for-16 shooting, pulled down nine rebounds and blocked three shots.

"Chris Wilcox came off the bench and gave an incredible energy," coach Scott Brooks said. "You look at his points and obviously you are very happy and excited he had 23 points, but the thing that impressed me the most was that he was a force defensively down low. He had key rebounds and key blocks. He made great plays."

--C Nenad Krstic has hit the practice court with his new teammates. He spent most of this first practice, however, doing conditioning work. After the players left the gym, he worked out against assistant coach and former center Mark Bryant.

"I worked out with him after the press conference," Krstic said. "He's good. He's really pushing me hard and that's what I need right now."

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F D.J. White (jaw surgery) had a benign tumor removed Oct. 13 and underwent another surgery on his jaw recently. He's expected to be out another three months.

--C Nick Collison (left thumb) didn't play Friday against Denver.

--F Joe Smith (knee contusion) missed his third straight game Friday.
