Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2008-12-05

Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2008-12-05
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Russell Westbrook, Shooting guard Damien Wilkins, Small forward Kevin Durant, Power forward Jeff Green, Center Chris Wilcox. Bench -- Guard Earl Watson, Forward Joe Smith, Forward Nick Collison, Guard Desmond Mason.

--G Desmond Mason hopes the win at Memphis, which opened a four-game road trip, serves as a learning tool for the young team. The Thunder opened the season 0-7 away from home.

"It gives you a little bit of confidence, gives you some momentum, especially winning on the road," he said. "It was an opportunity to learn how to win on the road, how to play down the stretch in tough games.

"We've been in situations where we had leads and given them up. To get into a crunch-time situation like that, and pull away at the end, we learned a lot from that."

--G Russell Westbrook went into Wednesday with more offensive rebounds (35) than defensive (25) this season. Scott Brooks has a theory why.

"You see how high he jumps? He jumps like 13 feet in the air," Brooks said. "Right now, he's a good offensive rebounder. We want him to be a great defensive rebounder, and he has the skills and the tenacity to get on the defensive boards."

--C Chris Wilcox moved into the starting lineup, replacing C Nick Collison. Wilcox averaged 14.6 and 6.2 rebounds in the five games leading up to Wednesday at Charlotte.

"You can't deny Weezy's been playing incredible basketball as of late," Scott Brooks said. "I think my job and our job as a team is to continue that trend."

--F D.J. White (jaw surgery) had a benign tumor removed on Oct. 13. The second phase of the surgery, expected to follow in about six weeks, involves mending the jaw with bone graft taken from his hip. Recovery time is four to six months.

--C Robert Swift (lower back discomfort) was inactive Wednesday against Charlotte. He's officially listed as day-to-day.
