PLAYER NOTES: --G Russell Westbrook made the first start of his career Saturday night against Memphis. The rookie point guard, picked fourth in the draft, replaced Earl Watson.
Westbrook scored 12 and wasn't the only new face on the first team. Chris Wilcox replaced Nick Collison at center. Coach Scott Brooks said he would stick with the new lineup for a while.
"We want to continue to look at different lineups," Brooks said. "And I've said earlier that everything is going to evolve. We're going to look at how guys play in different roles. Nothing is set in stone. We believe all of our guys have an important part in what they bring to the team."
--F Chris Wilcox scored 15 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter Friday night against Minnesota. He did most of the damage on the right block against Wolves F Al Jefferson.
"I knew I was quicker than him and I just had to beat him off the dribble and get to the post before him," Wilcox said. "And that's what I did. Just went out there and played and just was aggressive."
--G Desmond Mason is back in the lineup after missing six games with a sprained right elbow. He injured the elbow when his arm hit the backboard while trying to block a shot.
The elbow passed several tests done Thanksgiving morning. The issue is whether the ligaments hold up.
"I'm comfortable where I'm at," Mason said. "It's still sore. But (the medical staff) said it's going to be sore."
MEDICAL WATCH:
--F D.J. White (jaw surgery) had a benign tumor removed on Oct. 13. The second phase of the surgery, expected to follow in about six weeks, involves mending the jaw with a bone graft taken from his hip. The recovery time is four to six months.
--C Robert Swift (lower back discomfort) was inactive Saturday against Memphis. He's officially listed as day-to-day.
