Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2008-11-24

Oklahoma City Thunder Roster Report 2008-11-24
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Earl Watson, Shooting guard Damien Wilkins, Small forward Kevin Durant, Power forward Jeff Green, Center Nick Collison. Bench -- Guard Russell Westbrook, Forward Joe Smith, Center Robert Swift, Guard Kyle Weaver, Center Mo Sene, F Chris Wilcox, C Johan Petro.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Damien Wilkins knew something had to happen. A team doesn't start 1-12, and look miserable most nights, without consequences.

"Anytime you start off a season 1-12, a change somewhere is needed," he said. "And that doesn't always mean it's with the coaching staff. Unfortunately, in this business, it's always the coaches first."

--C Nick Collison put P.J. Carlesimo's firing in perspective for many in these economic times. When millionaires lose their jobs, and still get paid, it doesn't quite compare to what most people deal with.

"No one should feel sorry for us," Collison said. "We're in a good situation. We've just got to try to play the best we can. That's all we can really do. We can't control much else."

--C Johan Petro rode a roller coaster of playing time in a 24-hour span. He went from starting Friday night against the Hornets to not playing at the following night in New Orleans.

The 7-footer from France scored four and grabbed seven rebounds Friday, but perhaps in a harbinger of what was come, didn't start the second half.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F D.J. White (jaw surgery) had a benign tumor removed on Oct. 13. The second phase of the surgery, expected to follow in about six weeks, involves mending the jaw with bone graft taken from his hip. Recovery time is four to six months.

--F Desmond Mason (sprained right elbow) is out. He is averaging 8.4 points and 3.9 rebounds off the bench.

--C Robert Swift (lower back discomfort) was inactive Saturday night at New Orleans. The injury flared up Friday, and Swift underwent an MRI exam. He's listed as day-to-day, but he didn't accompany the team to New Orleans.
