Oklahoma City Thunder Notes, Quotes 2009-06-07
--The team unveiled plans for a $3.9 million scoreboard inside Ford Arena that would be ready in time for next season. The project is part of an overall plan to upgrade the facility, which hosted the Thunder for the first time last season.

The scoreboard features 10 full-motion video panels, more than double the arena's current scoreboard, and an LED ring at the top to display video and text. Courtside fans aren't left out of the mix, as the scoreboard features two titled video panels for those in the lower seats.

"Our goal is to take as many steps as possible to improve the game experience for our fans," said Brian Byrnes, the Thunder's senior vice president for ticket sales and services. "The addition of this high quality scoreboard is just one of the many amenities we are improving to accomplish that goal. The high quality video panels will provide higher resolution which means sharper, clearer images and enhanced viewing for every seat in the house."

--Despite reports that Spanish sensation Ricky Rubio has no intention of playing in Oklahoma City (or Memphis), the Thunder scheduled a workout with the 18-year-old point guard.

Hasheem Thabeet could also be there when the Thunder select third, but Memphis could snag the UConn center with the second pick. Rubio would make sense for Oklahoma City if the team eventually moves Russell Westbrook to shooting guard.

That hasn't stopped the rumors from flying in Oklahoma City about a possible trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, who have already staked their claim on Oklahoma product Blake Griffin with the top pick.

Sending Rubio to L.A., fulfilling a need to play in a major market, plus possibly taking back Baron Davis (and his contract), has to be the basis of any scenario to bring Griffin back home.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Maybe at times we were too nice. I think that will change over time. We need to develop a physical mentality. It's going to come." -- F Jeff Green, on the team's mentality.
