Oklahoma City Thunder Notes, Quotes 2009-03-11
--A surge in bench play, especially among veterans, has helped explain the recent success without Kevin Durant and Jeff Green. Damien Wilkins and Nick Collison have gone from reserves to spot starters, while others such as Earl Watson and Malik Rose have taken a larger role.

"Our bench plays together and we play efficient," Watson said. "Nobody is trying to replace Jeff and Kevin. Everyone is just doing the best they can and playing as a team."

--Defense has also been a big reason why Oklahoma City has put a 4-1 stretch. In the five games leading up to Tuesday at Sacramento, the Thunder allowed just 88.8 points -- the only team in the league to give up less than 90 over that span.

"We're really, really playing hard," Malik Rose said. "And I think a big key to that, I know a big key to that, is Thabo (Sefolosha). He sets the tone for us in so many ways. He plays both ends of the floor very, very hard and he's out there with something to prove.

"And I think it's contagious because once he starts doing it then Earl (Watson) comes in and (Russell Westbrook is) using his athleticism and his gifts to be all over the place, and (Nick Collison is) always battling. It's even rubbing off on my man Nenad (Krstic). You've got to give Thabo his credit. He's our leader on defense."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We play well at home, we are confident and win at home, but the road has been tough for us. The toughest thing to do is to win on the road, but if we want to be a playoff team, we going to have to do it, so we've got to start sometime." -- Forward Nick Collison, before winning at Sacramento on Tuesday to open a three-game trip.
