Oklahoma City Thunder Notes, Quotes 2009-03-08
--The matchup between Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook gave the Thunder rookie a chance to go against and learn from the NBA's best point guard. Paul had 21 points and 13 assists, while Westbrook more than held his own with 24 and seven.

"The thing I like about Chris Paul is his toughness," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. "He really competes on both ends of the court. He gets his guys into the game, and if they're not mentally, he tells them that they're not in it. I think you acquire that with experience.

"First-year players are not really sure of themselves that they can do that. And most teams aren't going to allow that to happen, but with Chris Paul he really gets that team playing up to the level they should be playing at."

--Oklahoma City was left with just eight bodies for Saturday's game at New Orleans. Thabo Sefolosha was scratched before the game with a knee injury, Robert Swift was excused for personal reasons, and Jeff Green and Kevin Durant are still out.

"The guys who are going to have opportunities to play, we just want them to play hard when they get minutes, whether they get an extra five or six minutes or they're getting an extra 20 minutes," Scott Brooks said before the game. "We just have to play hard and play well and play together as a team. That's all I can ask for from our guys."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I knew going into this game that we were going to have to play pretty flawless basketball for 48 minutes. We played good for three quarters, but in the fourth quarter they made some big shots, we turned it over a few times, but I was proud of our guys' effort." -- Coach Scott Brooks after Saturday's loss at New Orleans.
