Oklahoma City Thunder Notes, Quotes 2009-02-10

Oklahoma City Thunder Notes, Quotes 2009-02-10
--The Thunder went into Sunday's game determined to slow down Kings guard Kevin Martin, who scored 37 points last week's win over Oklahoma City.

"He had too many easy opportunities, not a lot of hands in his face, too many backdoor cuts," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said before the game. "But it's an opportunity for our guys to take the challenge to prevent him from getting easy looks."

Though the Thunder's overall defensive performance wasn't anything to write home about, Martin scored a manageable 23 on 7-of-16 shooting.

--The Thunder haven't always been successful when Kevin Durant scores 30, but he's not about to slow down. The reigning Rookie of the Year has hit at least 30 in four consecutive games and five of six, including Sunday's 39-point effort in the win over Sacramento.

Oklahoma City is 5-8 when Durant gets to 30, which translates to a 38.5 winning percentage. On the season, Oklahoma City (12-38) is at 24.0. So even thought it's not a winning record, the Thunder will take its chances when Durant shoulders the load.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I thought we got too relaxed at times. They made some tough, contested shots, but we came back with some key baskets ourselves." -- F Kevin Durant, on beating Sacramento despite giving up most of a 19-point lead.
