Oklahoma City Thunder Notes, Quotes 2009-01-04
--Not many noticed, simply because of the Thunder's record, but Kevin Durant fashioned one of the better Decembers in the league. The second-year forward averaged 25 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.2 blocks during the month.

And he was efficient. Durant connected on 47.2 percent from the floor, including 41.9 percent from beyond the three-point line, and 81.6 percent from the line in 41 minutes a game.

Durant also had 25 points, 10 rebounds and six assists as Oklahoma City finished out 2008 with a victory over Golden State.

"It feels good to come out and help my team in different ways, blocking shots, getting assists, getting rebounds," Durant said. "But the best thing is the win."

--Thunder coach Scott Brooks believes the effort put into improving on the offensive end in practice can be repeated defensively. To that end, each practice is focused more on the defensive end.

"It's the same thing from Day One -- we want to work and get better," Brooks said. "What we're teaching today is going to get us better tomorrow. It's just the process of getting better. We need to become a better defensive team.

"Sooner or later our focus is getting better on defense and it has to become better. We want it to become better soon."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It was always something in sports, especially in tough times during the war. So it was always being in sports rather than being in the streets." -- Nenad Krstic, on the diversions basketball provided growing up in Serbia.
