Oklahoma City Thunder Notes, Quotes 2008-12-15
--Interim coach Scott Brooks and Dallas coach Rick Carlisle share a friendship that goes back more than 20 years. As teammates in the CBA in 1987, Carlisle invited Brooks to spend an off-day with Celtics great Larry Bird in Boston.

Carlisle and Bird had been teammates the previous year and kept in touch. Brooks, however, decided against making the four-trip in favor of getting to the gym.

"What was I thinking? Two-hundred extra shots that day didn't really help me, did it? I had a chance to hang out with Larry Bird in his prime," Brooks said.

The story has stuck with Brooks for more than two decades.

"I think about that quite a bit," he admitted. "I had a chance to do that as a 22-year-old rookie in the CBA. I was focused on making it to the NBA and I felt I needed to get workouts in and I didn't believe in days off as a player."

--Credit Scott Brooks for remaining positive in the face of all the losses. The Thunder may end up as the worst team in NBA history, but its coach continues to sound upbeat.

"Our guys continue to battle," Brooks said. "We're going to win some games. We're going to do that. We still have to just continue to get better and learn. A loss is a loss, there's no doubt.

"There has to be lessons learned from every game whether you win or lose. And when things are rolling it's tough to take away lessons when you're winning, but it's a lot easier (in losses). And we've had plenty of times to take some lessons away from our losses."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It shouldn't matter whether a Tim Duncan or Dwight Howard is guarding you... you have to go and try to get your shot." -- Jeff Green.
