Oklahoma City Thunder Getting Inside 2009-04-01

Oklahoma City Thunder Getting Inside 2009-04-01
The signing of Shaun Livingston is the latest in a series of low-risk moves by Oklahoma City with a potential for a high reward. The former No. 4 pick was signed to a multiyear contract Tuesday after spending three weeks with the Thunder's D-League franchise in Tulsa.

Livingston, 23, is still attempting to return fully from a devastating knee injury suffered with his original team, the Los Angeles Clippers, in 2007. The 6-foot-7 point guard is expected to practice with the Thunder for the first time Thursday and possibly play next week.

"He's a talented player," Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti told the team's official website. "We were impressed by his approach to his time in Tulsa and he's someone we're excited about working with towards the end of the season and into the summer."

Livingston holds averages of 7.3 points, 4.7 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 149 career games. His promising career came to an abrupt halt during the 2006-07 season when he tore all the major ligaments in his left knee and dislocated his knee cap, forcing him to miss the final 26 games and the entire 2007-08 season.

Livingston had an aborted comeback with Miami this season, playing in just four games before being traded to Memphis in January. He was waived by the Grizzlies. Livingston joined Tulsa in early March, and averaged 9.5 points, 6.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 29.4 minutes in 11 games with the 66ers.

THUNDER 96, SPURS 95: Kevin Durant scored 31 as Oklahoma City finished off a three-game trip with another upset win over San Antonio. The Thunder (21-53) snapped a three-game skid by beating the Spurs for the second time in 15 days.

Oklahoma City led by as many as 17 before holding off a desperate rally by the Spurs, who were seeking to lock up a playoff spot. Russell Westbrook added 16 points and 10 assists for the Thunder. Jeff Green and Nenad Kristic also scored 16 each.

Tim Duncan paced San Antonio with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The Spurs had a chance to pull out the win, but Michael Finley missed a jumper as time expired.
