We asked various Basketball minds what they would do in tonight's NBA Draft if they controlled the Thunder's fate.
"Take the best player available regardless of position. I just think what ends up happening is you pigeonhole a position that you need and you wind up getting a less talented guy. I just wouldn't take a player to fill a need right now." - ESPN Basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla. "I would probably try to use both assets to try to add the best big that I could, the most veteran big who can score with his back to the basket." - Western Conference scout.
"Take Ricky Rubio if he was there. I think he's special, and I think special players figure it out. I think he's got such a great feel for the game and makes people better that he would be a fit. I think Russell could play both the 1 and the 2. But the other reason I take Ricky Rubio is because he's an asset. And who knows what team will come after him and what they might offer to the Thunder in return." - ESPN NBA Insider Chad Ford.
"I want to make sure we stay youthful and build around Kevin Durant. I recently talked to a Lakers fan on an airplane and all he could talk about is how good a foundation we have. We just need to keep adding to that foundation." - Oklahoma City resident and Thunder fan Bobby Wester.
"It depends who's there. You just have to have a plan. But I think you go get a point guard in this draft, whether you get him with your first pick or second pick. There's plenty to be had. I'd love to lock in on Patty Mills late in the first. If you get (Hasheem) Thabeet and Patty Mills, that's a good draft. Patty Mills has got a chance to be really special." - ESPN Basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb.
